China’s southern provinces are bracing for Typhoon Matmo. Authorities in Guangdong relocated more than one lakh 50 thousand residents, and rail services in Hainan have been suspended across the island. The National Meteorological Centre says Matmo, the 21st typhoon of the year, has strengthened into a severe typhoon in the morning and is expected to bring strong winds and heavy rain to areas across Hainan province, Guangdong province and the Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region today.
