In badminton, Indian shuttler PV Sindhu’s campaign at the China Open Super 1000 came to an end after she suffered a defeat against China’s Chen Yufei in the women’s singles round of 16 in Changzhou, China.
PV Sindu bowed out of the tournament at the pre-quarterfinal stage in a match that lasted 89 minutes.
The final score was 21-16, 20-22, 18-21. Sindhu won the first game 21-16. She then held four match points in the second game but could not finish the contest.
Chen won six straight points to take the second game 22-20 and forced a decider. She then won the third game 21-18.
Last week, Sindhu had beaten Chen during her Japan Open Super 750 title run after Chen retired from their match with a hamstring injury.
