Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, without directly mentioning the name of Congress MLA Sudip Roy Barman, criticized his conduct during the ongoing Budget session in the Legislative Assembly. The Chief Minister expressed disappointment over derogatory remarks made by a member of the House and questioned why experienced individuals would violate the rules.

During a discussion on the first day of the Budget Session, Roy Barman shared an anecdote implying that the Speaker was unable to control the ruling party MLAs, with Minister Ratanlal Nath as the target. This remark caused significant resentment among the members of the Legislative Assembly.

Addressing the issue, the Chief Minister highlighted how MLA Gopal Roy consistently refers to Speaker Biswabandhu Sen as a “Natyakar” or drama artist. Though not mentioning Roy Barman specifically, Dr. Saha indirectly referred to him as the number one drama artist in Tripura.

Dr. Saha expressed disappointment over the chaotic behavior exhibited by a few MLAs, which disrupted the Finance Minister’s attempt to present the Budget in a favorable atmosphere. The Chief Minister also criticized some Tipra Motha MLAs for climbing onto the assembly table.

During his discussion on the Budget, the Chief Minister addressed all major points and compared the Budget of 2017-18 with that of 2023-24. He expressed gratitude to Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy and his team for preparing a budget that aims to fulfill the aspirations of the people.

The ongoing Budget session in Tripura’s Legislative Assembly has witnessed tense moments and disruptions, prompting strong reactions from the Chief Minister and other members of the ruling party.
