Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has taken up a big mission to modernise and expand railway facilities in West Bengal and an amount of 13,955 crore rupees has been allocated for this.

Briefing media in New Delhi on Monday afternoon, Mr Vaishnaw said that Railways has a massive investment of 68,000 crores in West Bengal. He requested West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Bannerjee to help Centre with land acquisition and law and order to use these resources. The Minister further stated that 101 railway stations in West Bengal will be re-developed as ‘Amrit’ stations.

Mr Vaishnaw added that nine Vande Bharat trains are currently running in West Bengal. The first Amrit Bharat train started from Malda last year. Railways Minister said in this year’s Budget, 100 new Amrit Bharat trains have been approved. He also said that NaMo Bharat trains will also be started in West Bengal. He termed this as Prime Minister Modi’s dedication towards West Bengal and its people.
