All the sensational cases that the CBI took up for investigation hitherto did show no results. All of those were someway or other put in the back burner or just closed without much ado.
But, this time at least there is a ray of hope.
Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha while meeting the Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday in New Delhi took up all the cases of recent past that had been handed over to the CBI and requested him to ask the federal investigation agencies to expedite the probe and bring the cases to a legal or logical conclusion.
And the figure of the cases from Tripura that were gathering dust with the CBI is mindboggling –more than 40. Sources said, the most prominent cases that were given special mentions by the Chief Minister were related to murders of two journalists Sudip Datta Bhowmik and Santanu Bhowmik , Bardhaman Farma cases, allegations of serious corruptions against NIT Agartala Director PK Basu as well as several cases-almost 40 relating to the NBFC.
Sources said, the Chief Minister told Shah that delay and in fact in cases, virtual stoppage of the investigations by the CBI not only deprived the family , relatives and well-wishers –and in broader sense the society- of justice, but also cast the a sense of ‘let down’.
The Union Home Minister said that he was well aware of some of the cases and that he would look into the matter as requested and ask the CBI to expedite the probes.
It may be mentioned here that this is for the first time serious initiatives were taken by the senior most political executive of the state at the Union Home Minister level for conclusive end of the sensational cases under the CBI.
