Tripura Police book Abhishek Banerjee, others

Police filed case against Trinamool Congress (TMC) all India general secretary Abhishek Banerjee and his other senior colleagues on Tuesday for allegedly obstructing police from discharging their duties.

Sources said, besides Abhishek Banerjee , TMC MLA Bratya Basu, Rajya Sabha MP Dola Sen, party spokesperson Kunal Ghosh, former Sunamura MLA Subal Bhowmik and ex-Tripura Minister Prakash Das have been booked under 186 and 34 of the IPC.

“They were obstructing the police functioning in Khowai police station on Sunday. On that day itself a GD was made and after permission from the court the case was registered”, said an official.

The TMC leaders were agitating in protest against the arrest of 14 TMC leaders and workers.
