It is definitely uncharacteristic of a Communist to openly admit the political enemy’s strength and shower praise for its organizational efficacy, even in indirect way. But Communist veteran and CPM state secretary Jitendra Choudhury seemed to have sought to come out of the stereotype. In a surprising candidness Choudhury admitted that BJP had , indeed, emerged as formidable political force and that no political party in the opposition could single-handedly unsettle it from the power. As if this admission was not enough, Choudhury also openly agreed to the fact that RSS had robust organizational network at the grass root and would always help BJP to gain strength and power in politics.
“Of course we are ideologically opposed to the RSS and BJP. But there is no denying of the fact that RSS’ organizational efficacy is formidable and it does have a deep penetration in the grass root level. And this RSS is in the core of BJP’s set up”.
“Whether BJP is in power or not, RSS will be there.”, Choudhury said while giving an interview to a local TV Channel. He was commenting on the results of Assembly Polls in five states.
Choudhury also said there is no single party that can emerge as an alternative to BJP – an understanding between the democratic and secular parties can become a challenger against the saffron party.
Explaining further, Choudhury commented, “There are several parties and top leaders in Congress and other regional parties. However, they do not have a strong presence at the grass-root level. These parties become active during elections only and have failed to understand the strategies of the BJP.”
He continued and said, “BJP is banking on its Hindutva agenda in a clever manner. They have successfully planted the concept of Right-wing ideology among the people which other parties are unable to sense or grasp. Leftists are not strong enough to put up a decisive fight against the BJP”.
