Among the award recipients, Mangala Jamatia, the District ASHA Programme Manager of Gomati district, emerged as a symbol of resilience and dedication after receiving the Best District ASHA Manager award from Manik Saha. Her recognition carried deep emotional significance as she continues to undergo treatment for cancer while actively leading healthcare initiatives across the district.

Despite facing serious health challenges, Mangala Jamatia reportedly continued coordinating outreach programmes, supporting field-level ASHA workers, and strengthening healthcare delivery mechanisms in rural and vulnerable communities. Health officials and colleagues praised her unwavering commitment, saying her determination never weakened even during medical treatment.

Her efforts have inspired many within the healthcare sector in Gomati district. Officials stated that she remained actively involved in mentoring newly recruited ASHA workers, monitoring maternal and child healthcare services, and ensuring the effective implementation of awareness and vaccination drives.

Dr. Kamal Reang congratulated Mangala Jamatia through a social media post, appreciating both her service and courage. He said she truly deserved the recognition and thanked the government for honouring her dedication to public healthcare. According to him, her strength during adversity has become a source of inspiration for many healthcare workers across the district.

Ranamoy Deb, District Programme Manager of Gomati district, also recalled how Mangala continued to guide field operations and advocate for underprivileged households despite her ongoing treatment. He noted that her dedication reflected the true spirit of public service and community care.

The convention also recognised the contribution of other healthcare workers from Gomati district. Rima Banik Dey of Aatharabhola AAM received the Best ASHA Facilitator award, while Apu Rani Das from Kakraban Community Health Centre was honoured as the Best ASHA worker for her exceptional service to the community. The awards were presented by the Chief Minister in the presence of health department officials and ASHA representatives from different parts of the state.

Speaking at the event, Chief Minister Manik Saha highlighted the critical role played by ASHA workers in delivering healthcare services to people at the grassroots level. He stated that ASHA workers have been instrumental in spreading public awareness, protecting maternal and child health, implementing vaccination programmes, and strengthening primary healthcare systems in remote areas.

The Chief Minister also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to improving the welfare of ASHA workers in the state. He mentioned that the government is considering measures related to honorarium enhancement, better training opportunities, and overall welfare support for the 7,866 ASHA workers currently serving across Tripura.
