Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Varma who also holds Finance portfolio gave the Budget highlights after tabling the budget in the Assembly on Thursday.

  1. Rs 1000 crore as Capital expenditure under ‘Subarna Jayanti Nirman Fund’ for development of the state keeping in mind the Golden Jubilee anniversary of the state. For the first time such a fund has been envisaged in the budget. “This is a historic step”, said Finance Minister Jishnu Dev Varma
  2. Social pension increased to Rs 2000 by which 3.81 lakhs families will be benefited. The fund will enter to beneficiaries’ bank account before Durga Puja. For the government expenditure will be Rs 645 crore. A committee has been formed with Chief Secretary to streamline the disburse the money.
  3. There are Rs 1300 core for Indigenous people’s development.
  4. The retirement age of the TSR jawans has been made 60 years from 57 years. This will be implemented from this financial year only.
  5. Rs 50 crore special fund for women empowerment. This was given under the title Gender Budget.
  6. 20 percent increase in educational sector . Rs 5000 crore has been earmarked for this sector.
  7. 22 percent increase in Health sectors
  8. 20 more Vidyajyoti Schools to be set up along with existing 100- which will be centre of excellence. Rs 500 crore has been earmarked for them.
  9. Tripura has got eight Externally Aided Projects. Permission for three more EAPs sent.
  10. All decisions have financial provisions. Funds are earmarked.
  11. With huge capital expenditure on the way the state government envisages 13.28 percent growth in Tripura.
  12. Fiscal deficit 4 percent of GST.
