Border Security Force (BSF) personnel seized contraband articles including narcotics, drugs and cattle worth Rs. 35.64 crore in the year 2021. In addition, 45,07,039 number Ganja saplings worth Rs. 24.15 crore have been destroyed by cutting and burning by the forces, a top official said.
Besides, the border guards also nabbed 218 persons including 98 Bangladeshi Nationals and 120 Indian Nationals, who were involved in various border crimes and illegal infiltrations, Inspector General of BSF, Sushanta Nath said.
The figures of border infiltrators are higher than 2020 when 131 intruders including 85 Indians and 46 Bangladeshi nationals were nabbed by the paramilitary while illegally crossing the border, he told reporters. The number of infiltrators, who were nabbed, was 236 people in 2019.

Meanwhile, acting on a tip-off, BSF troopers of 133 Battalion seized 5,200 yaba tablets worth Rs. 26, 00,000 along with one revolver and ammunition from the residence of one Suman Miah in Sonamura and apprehended him on Saturday. All seized items along with the apprehended person were handed over to the police party on spot for further legal action.
During last year, an amount of Rs. 19.58 lakh has been spent in conducting various Civic Action Programmes.
