According to multiple media reports, only the final contractual formalities remain before the highly anticipated fixture is officially announced.
Initial reports published by ESPN Brasil and later confirmed by leading Brazilian newspaper Estadão suggest that discussions have progressed significantly, with both parties nearing the completion of administrative procedures. If finalised, the match will become one of the biggest football events hosted in India in recent years and mark Brazil’s first major national team appearance in Kolkata.
The proposed fixture is expected to be part of FIFA’s expanded 16-day “Super FIFA Window,” scheduled from late September to early October 2026. The extended international break provides national teams with additional opportunities to organise high-profile friendlies following the conclusion of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
