In Boxing, India’s Gaurav Chauhan advanced to the Men’s 92 Plus kg semifinal at the Elorda Cup 2024 in Astana, Kazakhstan today. He defeated Danial Saparbay of the host country, 3-2, ensuring a medal for the country.
Meanwhile, six-time Asian Championships medalist Shiva Thapa faced a defeat against Kazakhstan’s Abduali Almat, 1-4, in the Men’s 63.5 kg bout. Another Indian pugilist, Sanjay also went down fighting against Tuohetaerbieke Tanglatihan of China, in the men’s 80 kg category.
Tomorrow, five Indian boxers, Pawan Bartwal, Kavinder Singh Singh Bisht, Varinder Singh, Abhishek Yadav and Hites will play their respective quarterfinal bouts.
