Bomb hoax in MBB Airport of Agartala on Sunday afternoon sent the airport authorities and secuiriy apparatus itnto tizzy. The threat of bomb  -sent via an e mail by anonymous group whch identified itself as ‘Court’- prompted a massive security drills in the airport.  MBB airport happened to be one of the 12 airports which received the bomb threat via an email. The threat received at around 3. 03 pm was evidently a hoax.

The email sent to the Terminal Manager by an unknown person(s) identified as [email protected] said :  I have placed explosive devices inside your building . They will be exploded in the following hours (sic)… This is not a threat. You have a few hours to disarm the bomb or else the blood of innocent people inside of the building will be on your hands…The group called ‘Court’ is behind the massacre (sic).

Soon after receiving the e mail all concerned officials, security apparatus and others were alerted and an emergency meeting was held by MBB Airport officials, CISF officials at ATC building conference hall.

The meeting chaired by APD ordered security personnel to launch combing search and beef up surveillance at Agartala Airport.  The bomb disposal squad and dog squad investigated the entire airport complex and its surroundings. Till now no suspicious thing has been found in the airport premises. Ultimately nothing was found.

In the meantime agencies report said, bomb threat email was sent to 12 airports across the country which included Jaipur, Delhi, Ahmedabad, Guwahati, Jammu, Lucknow, Patna, Agartala, Aurangabad, Bagdhugra, Bhopal and Calicut airports.
