BJP, Shiv Sena, NCP nominate candidates for Maharashtra Legislative Council polls

For the biennial elections to nine seats of the Legislative Council in Maharashtra, along with a by-election for one seat, BJP, Shiv Sena, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), and Shiv Sena (UBT) candidates filed their nomination papers today.
 
From the BJP, Sunil Karjatkar, Madhavi Naik, Sanjay Bhende, Vivek Kolhe, and Pramod Jathar filed nomination papers for the biennial elections. 
 
For the by-election to one seat, Pragya Satav filed her nomination papers. On this occasion, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, BJP state president Ravindra Chavan, along with Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule, Minister Chandrakant Patil, and Minister Ashish Shelar were present.
 
Additionally, from Shiv Sena, Neelam Gorhe and Bachchu Kadu filed their nomination papers. Meanwhile, Zeeshan Siddique filed his nomination papers on behalf of the Nationalist Congress Party. On this occasion, Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Pawar, Minister Chhagan Bhujbal, and state president Sunil Tatkare were present.
 
Ambadas Danve also submitted his nomination papers from the Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) party.
 
Meanwhile, the Congress, part of the Opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) in Maharashtra, announced that it will not field any candidate for the Legislative Council elections in the State.
 
Today was the last day for filing nomination papers for these Legislative Council elections, which will be held on 12 May.
