BJP today rejected the cash-for-vote allegation made against Party General Secretary Vinod Tawde saying the opposition is making baseless charges sensing its evident defeat in the Maharashtra assembly polls. Briefing media in New Delhi, party spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi said Mr Tawde was in  Nalasopara to attend the local party leaders’  meeting.  He said such meetings are done to instruct the party workers regarding the polling process.

He added that CCTV footage of the hotel and nearby area should be seen before making such baseless allegations as five crore rupees cannot be brought into a pocket. Mr Trivedi said the Maha Vikas Aghadi, whose leaders are making allegations, are not even in the fight in the Nalasopara assembly polls. The BJP leader added that it is an attempt to create confusion among the people of the state but they are wise enough.

Meanwhile, Congress has demanded action against Mr Tawde alleging that he has been found red-handed. Party Spokesperson Supriya Shrinate told media in New Delhi, said that BJP leader is not the voter of the assembly seat where he was caught. She added that no outsider can be in a Constituency, which is going to vote as per rule.

The opposition has made an allegation against Mr Tawde that he was there with five crore rupees to distribute among voters ahead of tomorrow’s voting.
