
State BJP will hold final discussion on its candidate list in New Delhi on Thursday. The meeting will be presided over by party’s president J P Nadda. In all likelihood the list will be announced either on Thursday or Friday.
The CEC meeting will also be attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, sources indicated.
The date of announcement will depend on the on going talks with the TIPRA Motha.
BJP’s state leaders including Chief Minister have already flown to New Delhi with a tentative list which will now need the go ahead of the central election committee. Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha, former Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb, Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Varma, state president Rajib Bhattacharjee, Union Minister Pratima Bhowmik, state in charge Sambit Patra, Election In-charge Mahesh Sharma are among party leaders who will attend the New Delhi meeting.
In the meantime, BJP Central leaders are also meeting with Pradyot Kishore Deb Barman and other TIPRA Motha leaders discussing an electoral alliance.
If the both parties can strike an alliance then the BJP will have leave some of its ST reserved seats depriving Janajati Morcha.
Earlier, before leaving for Delhi on Wednesday BJP state unit leaders held meeting here in Agartala to discuss and prepare a primary candidate list . The meeting was presided over by Rajib Bhattacharjee where Dr Manik Saha, Jishnu Dev Varman, Biplab Kumar Deb, Pratima Bhowmik, General secretaries were present.
Sources said, this time the BJP will drop several sitting MLAs, including at least one minister for their non-performance and eroded popularity.
