On Tuesday, the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Tripura kicked off its ambitious membership campaign, ‘Sadasyata Abhiyan 2024,’ with the aim of doubling its party membership from 6.5 lakh to 12 lakh. The launch event featured senior party leaders outlining their strategy to achieve this target.
Tripura BJP President Rajib Bhattacharjee highlighted the success of the previous membership drive in 2019, which saw membership numbers rise to 6.5 lakh. He noted that during that campaign, Chief Minister Manik Saha was instrumental as the state in-charge. To replicate this success, Bhattacharjee announced that the party would implement comprehensive training programs for top leaders, who will then educate and mobilize grassroots workers.
“Our party functionaries will cover all 3,330 polling booths to recruit new members while promoting our ideology,” Bhattacharjee stated. The membership drive will be conducted in two phases: the first phase concludes on September 25, followed by the second phase starting in October. Both online and offline registration options will be available.
The campaign was officially launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday. At the event, Chief Minister Manik Saha became the first member to join under ‘Sadasyata Abhiyan 2024’ and urged the public to enroll.
