BJP leader and Minister Ratan Lal Nath expressed confidence in a decisive victory in the upcoming civic elections across 21 urban local bodies, citing strong public support during a massive nomination rally in Mohanpur and highlighting the party’s development agenda.

Senior BJP leader and Tripura Minister Ratan Lal Nath has expressed confidence that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will secure a decisive victory in the upcoming elections to 21 municipal councils and urban local bodies across the state. He cited the enthusiastic public participation during a massive rally in Mohanpur as an indication of growing support for the ruling party.

The rally was organised in connection with the filing of nomination papers by BJP candidates contesting the Mohanpur Municipal Council elections. Nath, who led the colourful procession, said the large gathering and spontaneous participation of residents reflected people’s confidence in the BJP-led government’s development initiatives and urban governance.

In a statement following the rally, Nath said the public response in Mohanpur demonstrated the strength of people’s trust in the party. He described the gathering as an encouraging indication of the BJP’s electoral prospects and expressed confidence that the party would receive a strong mandate in the upcoming civic elections.

Emphasising development and improved public services, the minister said the BJP-led government was committed to transforming urban areas through better civic infrastructure, cleanliness and people-oriented administration. He stated that the development foundation already established in Mohanpur would be strengthened further to create a more modern, cleaner and citizen-friendly municipal administration.

According to Nath, the BJP was approaching voters with its development record and continued engagement with people’s everyday concerns rather than relying solely on electoral promises. He stressed that elected representatives should remain connected with the public and be accessible to residents during both difficult and favourable circumstances.

The minister also highlighted the importance of selecting suitable candidates for municipal elections. He said the BJP had nominated individuals who were not only capable of handling administrative responsibilities but had also maintained long-standing associations with social activities and community welfare.

Nath maintained that public representatives should understand local problems and actively support residents whenever necessary. He argued that close relationships with communities and a commitment to public service were essential qualities for those seeking to represent people in urban local bodies.

Expressing confidence about the party’s prospects beyond Mohanpur, the minister appealed to voters to support BJP candidates in all 21 municipal councils and urban local bodies participating in the elections. He said the government’s development initiatives and grassroots-level outreach had helped strengthen the party’s position across urban areas of Tripura.

Taking aim at opposition parties, particularly the CPI(M), Nath claimed that their public support had declined over the years. He asserted that the BJP’s support base continued to expand while opposition parties were facing increasing political challenges.

However, the minister acknowledged that every political party had the democratic right to contest elections. He said the BJP welcomed electoral competition and was prepared to face political opponents through the democratic process, while remaining confident of receiving public support.

Nath also criticised the functioning of previous governments, alleging that ordinary citizens had often felt neglected under earlier administrations. In contrast, he claimed that BJP leaders and workers had maintained stronger connections with people at the grassroots level and remained involved in addressing their concerns.

Appealing to residents, Nath urged voters to strengthen the development process by ensuring the victory of BJP candidates in Mohanpur Municipal Council and the other 20 urban local bodies. He said the party aimed to build on existing achievements and create more modern, clean and responsive municipal administrations.

The upcoming civic elections are expected to be an important political contest for the ruling BJP and opposition parties, with urban development, municipal services, public accessibility and local governance likely to remain central issues during the campaign. Nath expressed optimism that the public response witnessed in Mohanpur would translate into electoral success for the BJP across Tripura.
