BJP today came down heavily on Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge after his family reportedly decided to return the five-acre land allotted to the Siddhartha Vihar Trust. The trust being run by the Kharge family was allotted the land in the Hardware Sector of the Hi-Tech Defence and Aerospace Park in Bagaluru by the Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board.

Briefing media in New Delhi, party spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi said that the decision to return the allotted land proves that it was grabbed by misusing power.  He said Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has also offered to give plots linked to land scams back to avoid the humiliation during  court proceedings in the matter.

Mr. Trivedi alleged that the entire top leadership of the Congress is equally involved in the land-grabbing efforts. He questioned the silence of the Congress and INDIA alliance over the issue and alleged that it appears they are hand-in-glove in misappropriating government assets built from public funds. The BJP added that this silence was also notable in the National Herald case, where a company with assets worth around three thousand crore rupees was sold for a mere 90 crore rupees.
