Former Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb has been summoned for an urgent meeting with the party high command on Friday. Deb left for Delhi in the evening but missed the scheduled meeting on Friday night itself due to flight delay. Sources said the meeting with senior BJP leaders including president JP Nadda will take place on Saturday evening.
Deb is likely to return by Sunday.
It is being speculated that Deb might be given some important responsibilities before the by polls.
Deb had resigned from the position of the Chief Minister under the instruction from the BJP central leadership but the reason for his resignation was never made public creating a huge grey areas for speculations.
After Deb Dr Manik Saha who happens to be a Rajya Sabha member as well as party president too was given the charge of the Chief Ministership.
In the meantime, BJP national general secretary and state by-poll prabhari Kailash Vijayvargiya held an organizational meeting at state party headquarters on Friday.
Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, who is contesting the by-polls from 8- Town Bordowali constituency, party’s general secretary (org) to Tripura and Assam Phanindranath Sharma, Assam minister Jayanta Malla Barman, state Education minister Ratanlal Nath and other state leaders were present in the meeting.
Vijaybargiya held elaborate discussions regarding the by-polls with the booth presidents and booth in-charges of Bordowali constituency.
Eyeing on the ensuing polls, Dr. Saha, who is also the state BJP president, held an interactive session with the senior citizens of his constituency on Friday. He is also campaigning door-to-door with an appeal to the voters to support him.
In the meantime, 6 Agartala Constituency candidate for BJP Dr Ashok Sinha has also embarked on a 24 hours poll campaign in the constituency
