Former Chief Minister of Tripura and Member of Rajya Sabha, Biplab Kumar Deb, held a press conference on Tuesday to share insights into his tenure as a Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament, which began in September 2022. During the conference, he emphasized several noteworthy accomplishments and initiatives aimed at the betterment ofthe state.
One of the standout achievements touted by Deb was the allocation of Rs 3.39 crores from the MPLADS fund for ten distinct projects within the state. These projects, funded through the Members of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme, signify a commitment to regional development.
Deb’s active engagement in parliamentary affairs was also evident as he raised a total of 17 questions during his tenure, including one-starred question and a Private Member’s Bill advocating for compulsory environmental education in schools. His dedication to fostering environmental awareness among the youth stands out as a key milestone.
Furthermore, Deb utilized his position to address the presence of outdated British laws that still linger in the Indian legal system, highlighting the need for modernization in the legislative landscape.
Recognizing the importance of promoting local products, the former Chief Minister also showcased Tripura’s famous produce, such as the Queen variety of pineapple and Agarwood, which has made significant strides in the agriculture and horticulture sectors within the state.
Additionally, Deb voiced his support for the development of the Kailasahar airport, offering the state government’s assistance in providing land for its reconstruction.
Praising the Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana (PMMY) for empowering the youth to become self-reliant, Deb expressed his gratitude towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the ‘Double-Engine’ government for their commitment to delivering on promises made to the people. He emphasized the ongoing progress and development witnessed in Tripura, spanning infrastructure to the welfare of the less privileged.
In a concluding appeal, Biplab Kumar Deb urged the common people to support BJP candidates in the forthcoming by-elections in Tripura and the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, underlining the potential for further advancements and development with the BJP government and Narendra Modi as Prime Minister.
