Bihar spurious liquor tragedy: Mastermind arrested from Delhi’s Dwarka

New Delhi/UNI: The Crime Branch of Delhi Police arrested a man who was allegedly involved in spurious liquor tragedy of Bihar in which several people lost their lives, police said on Saturday.

The accused, identified as Ram Babu Mahto, who is allegedly the mastermind of spurious liquor tragedy in Bihar, was arrested from Delhis Dwarka area.

Mahto is accused in two cases registered at Mashrak Police Station and Isuapur PS of Saran district, Delhi Police statement stated.

After the incident Mahto had absconded from Bihar and shifted his location to Delhi. Delhi Police received information that Mahto was hiding somewhere here. On the basis of surveillance as well as specific inputs, the accused was arrested from Dwarka area, it added.

Appropriate legal action was being taken and information about the arrest of Mahto has been shared with Bihar Police for further action, police added.

Mahto belongs to a farming family having four brothers and two sisters. He was born in Bihar and has studied upto 8th class only. His family is not in good financial condition as claimed by him.

However, owing to the prohibition in the state of Bihar, he sensed an opportunity to make quick and easy money and allegedly got indulged in manufacturing and selling of spurious Liquor. He has a history of several cases of illicit liquor, police said.
