In Bihar, the opposition Grand Alliance on Friday announced a seat-sharing agreement for the 40 parliamentary constituencies among Congress, RJD and Left Parties.

According to the seat-sharing deal, Lalu Prasad-led RJD will contest 26 seats whereas Congress will field its 09 candidates and 05 seats are given to Left Parties. In view of seat distribution, the CPI-ML will contest three seats and one each will be contested by CPI-M and CPI.

The seat sharing was announced by leaders of the Grand Alliance in Patna in a joint press conference.  Barring some seats Congress and RJD will contest on the same seats which were contested by these parties in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

According to the final deal with its allies, RJD will contest on Saran, Pataliputra, Buxar, Ujiyarpur, Jehanabad, Darbhanga, Banka and Araria seats. Besides this party will also field candidates on Munger, Sitamarhi, Jhanjharpur, Madhubani, Siwan, Vaishali, Hajipur, Supaul, Valmiki Nagar, Purvi Champaran, Purnia, Madhepura and Gopalganj Lok Sabha seats.

Out of 26, the RJD candidates have already filed nominations for the four Lok Sabha seats of Aurangabad, Nawada, Jamui and Aurangabad in the first phase.

Akashvani Correspondent reports that Congress has retained its Kishanganj seat, the lone Lok Sabha seat won by the Grand Alliance in Bihar in the 2019 parliamentary elections. The other 08 seats of the Congress quota are Katihar, Samastipur, Patna Sahib, Sasaram, Paschimi Champaran, Muzaffarpur, Bhagalpur and Maharajganj.

Among Left parties, the CPI-ML will contest on Ara, Karakat and Nalanda parliamentary constituencies.  CPM has been accommodated with Khagaria and CPI with Begusarai seats which were their earlier demand.
