Bhavan’s Olympiad, organized by Bhavan’s Agartala, has grown from a small inter-school exam to a mega talent hunt with 6,000+ students from 44 schools across Tripura. With new centres and statewide participation, the Olympiad is now a premier academic competition fostering excellence among school students.
What began as a modest academic event years ago has now flourished into one of the largest student talent search initiatives in Tripura. The Bhavan’s Olympiad, a flagship academic competition organized by Bhavan’s Tripura Vidya Mandir, Agartala, has grown exponentially both in reach and reputation, this year attracting over 6,000 students from 44 schools across the state.
The Olympiad, which tests school students in subjects such as Mathematics, Science, and Logical Reasoning, was originally conceived by late Director (Programme) Kashinath Das. In its inception years, the competition involved just two participating schools. Today, thanks to consistent effort, community support, and the school’s dedication to academic excellence, the event has scaled up to include schools from various districts in Tripura.
The 2025 edition, held on Saturday, August 3, was a logistical feat. To manage the unprecedented number of students, three new examination centres were established — at Udaipur, Khowai, and Ranirbazar — in addition to the primary Agartala venue. The exam was conducted simultaneously across all four centres, ensuring a fair and standardized test environment for all participants.
A Platform for Discovering Hidden Talents
According to the organisers, the core objective of the Bhavan’s Olympiad is not just to rank students based on their performance but to serve as a platform for identifying and nurturing young academic talents. The Olympiad encourages healthy academic competition among school students and plays a pivotal role in motivating them to achieve excellence beyond the classroom curriculum.
Speaking about the initiative’s growth, a senior member of the school’s management said, “We are proud of how this event has evolved over the years. What started as a local test among a couple of schools has turned into a mega-talent hunt that now represents schools from every corner of Tripura. It’s a tribute to our late director Kashinath Das and his vision for the youth of this state.”
Support from Parents and Teachers
The success of this large-scale academic competition would not have been possible without the active involvement of parents, guardians, and teachers. The school management extended its heartfelt gratitude to all parents and guardians who encouraged their children to participate and supported the initiative by ensuring their enthusiastic involvement throughout the process.
A parent from Khowai, whose child took part in the Olympiad for the first time, said, “This is a wonderful initiative. My son was very excited to take part and prepare for it. It’s not just an exam—it’s a learning experience that fosters self-confidence and discipline.”
Organisational Excellence and Planning
With thousands of students participating simultaneously, meticulous planning and coordination were key. Bhavan’s Agartala worked tirelessly over the last several months to prepare question papers, coordinate with other schools, arrange invigilators, and ensure a smooth conduct of the exam. Transportation support, venue security, and a standardized paper distribution system were all in place to avoid any logistical glitches.
The principal of Bhavan’s Tripura Vidya Mandir stated, “Our team has done a phenomenal job. This level of coordination was not easy, but we made it happen. We are especially thankful to the education community across Tripura who cooperated wholeheartedly to make this a successful event.”
What’s Next?
Encouraged by the enthusiastic response, Bhavan’s Agartala is considering expanding the scope of the Olympiad in future editions. Plans include subject-specific Olympiads, regional and district-level qualifiers, and possibly a state-level recognition ceremony for the top scorers. The aim is to establish this Olympiad as Tripura’s premier academic benchmark for school students.
