Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ scheme came as a blessing to a girl child who could not speak and hear since her birth.
Now, a successful cochlear implantation under the scheme gave voice and ability to hear to the deaf and dumb girl child, bringing a smile to the child and her family.
The child- Riya Das, a Class-IV student and daughter of Sanjit Kumar Das of Gouranga Tila area in Khowai, is on cloud nine as her problem is a past now.
While the family of the girl thanked the central government for the whole process, District Magistrate of Khowai L.T. Darlong handed over a hearing device and a cheque of Rs 22,122 to the beneficiary.
Sanjit Rupini, an officer of the Social Welfare and Social Education Department, said free treatment is provided to the deaf and dumb children below five years under the scheme ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padho’.
