Bengaluru city received 111.1 mm rainfall yesterday night, breaking the 133 year old record of 110.3 mm rainfall on a single day, recorded on June 16, 1891. The heavy downpour disrupted normal life. Over 100 trees were uprooted and branches of around 500 trees fell in the city due to rains damaging property.

The water logging on roads and low lying areas created hardship to the commuters. There was a power outage as several light poles and transformers were damaged.  Due to a tree falling on the metro tracks near Trinity station towards M G Road, train service was disrupted at night.

The Bengaluru city incharge minister and Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar has informed media persons today that officials have been instructed to set right civic amenities affected by rain. He also said that a meeting will be called to discuss the issue and take remedial measures.
