Bangladesh retain an unchanged 16-member squad for the T20I series against Pakistan after a 2-1 win over Sri Lanka. Led by Litton Das, the confident side will play three matches in Dhaka on July 20, 22, and 24. Pakistan, however, dominate head-to-head records with 19 wins in 22 games.

Riding high on confidence after their thrilling comeback series win over Sri Lanka, Bangladesh have announced an unchanged 16-member squad for their upcoming three-match T20I series against Pakistan. All matches will be played under lights at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka on July 20, 22, and 24.

The squad selection reflects the faith of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) in the current team, which bounced back strongly after losing the first T20I in Colombo. Under the inspiring leadership of Litton Das, Bangladesh won the next two games, ultimately sealing the series 2-1. This victory not only lifted team morale but also marked a historic feat—Litton Das became the first Bangladesh captain to win two overseas T20I series, having previously whitewashed the West Indies 3-0 in December 2023.

The recently concluded Sri Lanka tour showcased the growing maturity and composure of the Bangladesh T20I side. In the decider, they demonstrated an all-round clinical performance, chasing down Sri Lanka’s total with eight wickets to spare. The top order was in fine form with crucial contributions from Tanzid Hasan, Litton Das, Towhid Hridoy, and Shamim Hossain. Their consistent performances laid a strong foundation throughout the series.

Bangladesh’s bowling unit also deserves praise for their disciplined execution. Offspinner Mahedi Hasan was particularly impressive, claiming figures of 4 for 11 in the final match. His variation and control made scoring difficult for the Sri Lankan batters. Legspinner Rishad Hossain and pace spearhead Mustafizur Rahman supported well, both maintaining economy rates below six runs per over across the series—an exceptional feat in the shortest format.

Bangladesh’s team management, led by selectors and coaching staff, has opted for stability by keeping the same combination intact. The decision is also a sign of belief in the players’ current form and synergy as a unit.

However, the challenge against Pakistan will be different. Despite Bangladesh’s recent resurgence, Pakistan holds a commanding record in head-to-head T20I encounters. Out of 22 T20Is between the two sides, Pakistan have emerged victorious 19 times, including a 3-0 whitewash over Bangladesh just two months ago in Lahore. That defeat still looms in the background, and Litton’s men will be eager to turn the tables on home soil.

The Bangladesh squad will be banking on home advantage and recent momentum. The Shere Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur, Dhaka, has traditionally been a favorable venue for the Tigers, and the passionate home crowd is expected to provide the energy needed to challenge a formidable Pakistani outfit.

On the other hand, Pakistan have already landed in Dhaka, preparing themselves for what promises to be an intense and high-stakes series. Known for their explosive batting and disciplined pace attack, the visitors are likely to pose a tough test for the hosts.

Bangladesh’s selectors have shown a clear intent by backing their players with continuity and confidence. Players like Jaker Ali, Mohammad Naim, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, and Mohammad Saifuddin offer solid bench strength, while the experienced bowling trio of Mustafizur Rahman, Taskin Ahmed, and Shoriful Islam will be expected to deliver breakthroughs.

As Bangladesh aim to continue their winning streak, the upcoming series offers not only an opportunity to settle scores with Pakistan but also a critical phase in their preparation ahead of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 qualifiers. The team’s ability to carry forward momentum and respond under pressure will be key.

Bangladesh T20I Squad:
Litton Das (capt), Tanzid Hasan, Parvez Hossain Emon, Mohammad Naim, Towhid Hridoy, Jaker Ali, Shamim Hossain, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Rishad Hossain, Mahedi Hasan, Nasum Ahmed, Taskin Ahmed, Mustafizur Rahman, Shoriful Islam, Tanzim Hasan Sakib, Mohammad Saifuddin.
