The festival of Eid-ul-Adha is being celebrated in Bangladesh with religious fervour and solemnity. People started gathering in the mosques early in the morning to celebrate the festival of sacrifice and sharing.

The Bangladesh President Mohammed Shahabuddin, Chief Justice Obaidul Hassan, Dhaka South City Corporation Mayor Fazle Noor Taposh, Cabinet Ministers and several other dignitaries took part in the prayer at the National Eidgah ground this morning.

President Mohammed Shahabuddin in his message on the occasion said sacrifice instils the spirit of self-sacrifice in all and also teaches the spirit of sharing happiness and sorrow with relatives and neighbours and it gives a lesson of tolerance. He urged the wealthy and affluent people to come forward so that none is deprived of the joy of Eid.

On the eve of Eid-ul-Adha, Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina urged all to work for the welfare of the country and its people, inspired by the spirit of sacrifice embodied in Eid-ul-Adha.

The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has taken several security measures ahead of Eid for a smooth celebration of the festival across the country.
