In Nepal, Bagmati Province Chief Minister Bahadur Singh Lama resigned from his post. His Chief Personal Secretary, Chhatra Bahadur Lama, submitted the resignation letter to the Office of the Province Chief in Hetauda.
Following the resignation, Province Chief Deepak Prasad Devkota called on any Provincial Assembly member who can secure a majority with the support of two or more parties to stake a claim to the post, in accordance with the Constitution. The process to appoint a new Chief Minister is underway.
Newly elected Nepali Congress (NC) Parliamentary Party leader Indra Bahadur Baniya has submitted his claim to the post, with the backing of the CPN-UML Parliamentary Party leader.
