Badminton: India’s Isharani Baruah Reaches Korea Masters Super 300 Quarter

In badminton, Isharani Baruah defeated South Korean Lee So Hee 18-21, 21-15, 7-21 in the quarter-finals at the Korea Masters Super 300 badminton tournament in Asan today.

 
India’s top shuttlers, including reigning Taipei Open women’s singles champion Tanvi Sharma and former world No. 1 Kidambi Srikanth, will begin their campaigns. 
 
In the men’s singles category, Kiran George, Rounak Chouhan, Saneeth Dayanand and Tharun Mannepalli are among the Indian players in action, while Anmol Khar, Malvika Bansod, and Aakarshi Kashyap will represent India in the women’s singles category. However, India endured a mixed start to the competition on the opening day.
 
Unseeded Indian pair Krishna Prasad Garaga and Pruthvi Krishnamurthy Roy upset sixth seeds Chaloempon Charoenkitamorn and Worrapol Thongsa-Nga of Thailand 21-16, 21-18 to enter the men’s doubles second round at the Korea Masters Super 300 badminton tournament in Asan, South Korea,
 
In men’s doubles, Achutaditya Rao Doddavarapu and Arjun Reddy Pochana were eliminated in the first round. In women’s doubles, Priya Konjengbam and Shruti Mishra went down 15-21, 13-21 to Japan’s second-seeded pair Ririna Hiramoto and Kokona Ishikawa. In men’s singles qualifying, Tushar Suveer defeated Canada’s Shaurya Gullaiya 21-15, 21-12 before losing to Japan’s Shogo Ogawa 10-21, 17-21 in the next qualifying round.
 
India has fielded a 33-member contingent across men’s singles, women’s singles, men’s doubles, women’s doubles and mixed doubles at the tournament.
