In an unprecedented move the state government sent Secretary to the Jail, Fire Service and Forest departments etc Barun Kumar Sahu to compulsory waiting. No reason for such a step has been cited in the government notification.
The notification said Chief Secretary Kumar Alok will look after the Forest department will now hold the charge of Forest department while Apurba Kumar Roy will look after Jail and Fire services.
Sahu courted controversies in recent time on several occasions. There were also allegations of Sahu depriving one eminent retired judge Dr B K Kilikdar of his dues and recognition for makingthe new Tripura Jail Manual . Aprt from that of late there were several cases of jail inmates escaping from the detention with impunity.
