In Badminton, 20-year-old Ayush Shetty made history by becoming the first Indian to win a BWF World Tour title this season by clinching the US Open 2025. Ayush capped off his dream run with a commanding 21-18, 21-13 victory over Canada’s Brian Yang in the final. Playing with confidence and precision, Shetty dominated the match, keeping the Canadian shuttler on the back foot from the outset. His triumph in the final came on the heels of an electrifying semifinal performance, where he pulled off a massive upset by defeating World No. 6 Chou Tien Chen. With this title, Shetty not only opens his BWF World Tour account but also delivers India its first men’s singles title on the BWF Tour on foreign soil since the Canada Open 2023. 
 
 
However, in the women’s singles, Tanvi Sharma’s remarkable run ended with a runner-up finish after a hard-fought three-game battle against top seed Beiwen Zhang, which she lost 11-21, 21-16, 10-21 in 46 minutes. The unseeded 16-year-old, playing in her first BWF World Tour final, showed great promise but faded in the decider after forcing a third game
