During the 78th Independence Day celebrations at the state-level event held at Assam Rifles ground on Thursday, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha presented awards and medals to individuals across various categories in recognition of their exceptional service and achievements.

The Police Medals for Meritorious Service (Republic Day) 2023 were awarded to several distinguished officers, including North Tripura district Superintendent of Police Bhanupada Chakraborty, Assistant Commandant of the 13th Battalion TSR Amal Debbarma, Deputy Superintendent of Police (Security) Kamal Shukladas, Subedar of the 3rd Battalion TSR Hemant Bisht, Subedar of the 3rd Battalion TSR Manindra Bardhan, and retired police officer (Sub-Inspector) Ashis Kumar Das.

In the category of Home Guard and Civil Defence Medals for Meritorious Service, the honors were given to Ataur Rahman and Swapna Dutta Marak. Additionally, the Union Home Minister’s Medal for Excellence in Investigation for the year 2022 was awarded to Woman Sub-Inspector Emily Nandy.

The Union Home Minister’s Medals for Excellence in Police Training for the year 2021-22 were conferred upon Sabin Debbarma, Khoka Miah, Swapan Debbarma, and Raju Sarkar, recognizing their outstanding contributions in the field of police training.

The event also saw recognition given to two NCC cadets, Rajdeep Goswami of the 13th Battalion and Manish Bhowmik of the 15th Battalion, for their efficiency and remarkable achievements. Additionally, NCC cadets Risa Debbarma and Shubranil Chakraborty, both from the 13th Battalion, were awarded for their notable accomplishments in climbing and participation in a youth exchange program, respectively.

In the forestry sector, Priyalal Sen was honored as the Best Forester of the Year, Abdul Sattar was recognized with the ‘Van Ratna’ award, and Sadhan Debbarma from the Forest Department also received accolades for his contributions.
