In the ICC Women’s ODI World Cup 2025, defending champions Australia defeated New Zealand by 89 runs in a one-sided match at Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore last night. Opting to bat first in the 2nd match of the tournament, Australia were bowled out for 326 runs, with just 3 balls remaining. Ashleigh Gardner scored the highest 115 runs, while opening batter Phoebe Litchfield also made 45 runs.
For New Zealand, Jess Kerr and Lea Tahuhu each bagged 3 wickets. In response, New Zealand got bundled out for just 237 runs. Even skipper Sophie Devine’s innings for 112 runs went in vain. For Australia, Sophie Molineux and Annabel Sutherland each picked up 3 wickets. Ashleigh Gardner got Player of the Match award for her brilliant ton. Today, Bangladesh will take on Pakistan at the R.
