Former members of the banned militant groups ATTF have started occupying nearly 100 kani of land for settlement in RK Nagar and have begun demanding official rehabilitation at the site.
In response to their demands, Mohanpur Subdivision Settlement Committee Chairman and MLA and former ATTF chief Ranjit Debbarma claimed that the land they had occupied had no private ownership claims. “The area only contains a few banana trees, and as per the agreement, the government is obligated to provide rehabilitation to the surrendered militants,” he stated in a phone conversation with journalists.
Debbarma further refuted reports of any protest, stating that the ex-militants were merely residing at the site. He confirmed that he had informed the District Magistrate and the Mohanpur Sub-Divisional Magistrate about the situation, and both officials had inspected the area. Additionally, he personally visited the site today and assured that adequate police security had been arranged.
