Assembly polls show end of dynasty politics: Modi

Must Read

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday called for rooting out dynasty politics and said the outcome of the just-concluded elections in five states indicate the end of the era of dynasties in Indian politics.

Addressing the BJP’s Parliamentary Party here, Modi claimed credit for denying tickets to children of several party colleagues.

As the Prime Minister and BJP President J P Nadda reached the venue, Bharatiya Janata Party MPs cheered them for leading the party to victory in Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Goa and Manipur.

Party sources quoted Modi as saying that dynastic politics also promotes caste feelings and so has to be done away with. At the same time, he asked party leaders to analyse why the BJP lost where it lost.

He asked MPs to analyse at least 100 booths in their constituencies. Modi mentioned in his speech the recently released film “Kashmir Files” and briefed the MPs about the evacuation of Indian students from Ukraine.

Tributes were paid to Indian student Naveen Shekharappa, who was killed in Ukraine, and Bajrang Dal worker Harsha, who was killed in Shivamogga in Karnataka.

Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Road and Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi and Leader of the House in the Rajya Sabha Piyush Goyal also attended the meeting.
