New Delhi/IBNS: As the assembly elections held in three northeastern states concluded on Monday, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is set to win in Tripura and Nagaland, while taste defeat in Meghalaya, as per the exit polls.

In Meghalaya, polling was held at 3,419 polling stations across 59 Assembly constituencies, while in Nagaland, voting was held in 59 out of 60 Assembly constituencies.

Nagaland, which went for a single phase voting on Monday, recorded a voter turnout of 84.79 percent

Tripura recorded nearly 88 per cent in the one-day assembly elections.

According to Zee News-Matrize exit poll, BJP will bag victory in Tripura with 29 to 36 votes.

The National Peoples Party will retain Meghalaya with 21 to 26 seats, according to Zee News-Matrize exit poll. It predicted eight to 13 seats for Trinamool and 6-11 for BJP.

Meanwhile, in Meghalaya, the BJP-Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) coalition will bag 35-43 seats.

Congress will get around one to three seats and NPF two to five, it predicted.

India Todays exit poll shows BJP winning around 36-45 seats out of 60 assembly seats in Tripura with Tipra Motha behind with 9-16 seats.

In the case of Nagaland, Axis My India TVTN Exit Poll predicted the victory of NDPP in alliance with BJP with 38 – 48 seats.

It further forecasted that Naga Peoples Front (NPF) to secure 3-8 seats and Congress is expected to secure 1-2 seats. Others (NCP, LJP, RPI (A), NPP) are expected to secure 5-15 seats.

The poll predicted NPP to secure 18-24 seats, United Democratic Party (UDP) to secure 8-12 seats and Bharatiya Janata Party to secure 4-8 seats.

Axis My India TVTN Exit Poll further forecast Indian National Congress, All India Trinamool Congress, to secure 6-12 and 5-9 seats respectively.

In the state of Tripura, BJP and its alliance partner IPFT represents victory where it is the incumbent government. In the state BJP with local ally IPFT reflects 45% vote share followed by Left-Congress alliance 32%, TIPRA Motha at 20% and Others (TMC, IND, RPI(A), Tripura Peoples Party, Nationalist Citizens Party of India) at 3%, as per Axis My India-TVTN Exit Poll.

NDPP in alliance with BJP represents victory in Nagaland where it is the incumbent government. It reflects 49% vote share followed by Naga Peoples Front (NPF) at 13%, Congress at 10% and Others (NCP, L JP, RPI(A), NPP, JDU, IND, RLD RPP.) at 28%.

In the case of Meghalaya, NPP is expected to secure 29% vote share followed by Indian National Congress at 19%, All India Trinamool Congress at 16%, BJP at 14%, United Democratic Party (UDP) 11%, and others at 11%.

The counting of votes will take place on March 2.
