Assam police bust two Islamic terror modules, arrest 11

Assam police have busted two module of Islamic terror in the state and arrested 11 persons link with Bangladesh based terror outfit Ansarullah Bangla Team (ABT) and AQIS.

Hiren Nath, ADGP of Special Branch said in last 48 hours, Assam police have busted two terror modules in Barpeta district and Morigaon district and arrested 11 persons from various parts of the state.

“We have arrested 8 persons from Barpeta district, two from in Morigaon district and one from Goalpara district. Bongaigaon police have arrested one person from Goalpara district. Our interrogation is on,” Hiren Nath said.

He further said that police recovered some literature, other incriminating documents from them.

The top Assam cop also said one among two arrested persons from Moirabari area had run a Madrasa.

“We are investigating the matter,” Hiren Nath said.

The top police official also said that, one Mustafa alias Mufti Mustafa s/o Rustam Ali, an important financial conduit of AQIS/ABT module has been arrested by Morigaon police and he was running a madrassa by the name of Jamiul Huda Madrassa at Sahariapam under Moirabari police station in Morigaon district Banat Madrassa in Horuchala, Morigaon district that was used as harbour and safe house for fundamentalist activities of AQIS/ABT.

“Afsaruddin Bhuyan 39 years old, s/o Lt Alauddin Milanpur, Ward No 3 under Morigaon police station has also been arrested in the same case for his links with AQIS/ABT,” Hiren Nath said.

On the other hand, Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma said that, so far 11 persons have been arrested for their involvement with AQIS/ABT.
