Guwahati/UNI: The Assam Police have detained at least 22 individuals, including students and teachers, for questioning regarding the leak of a general science question paper intended for the state boards Class 10 examination.

The leak led to the tests cancellation, according to a senior police officer.

While the state education minister, Ranoj Pegu, acknowledged that individuals had been arrested, he did not provide any specifics, citing the ongoing investigation.

The Assam Police launched a criminal investigation, which was transferred to the CID on Monday.

Gyanendra Pratap Singh, the Director General of Police for Assam, tweeted that 22 people have been arrested from various locations across the state and that further legal action was being taken against them.

The education minister expressed his regret over the situation, stating that some teachers had been arrested but emphasizing that he could not provide additional information due to the ongoing investigation.

Pegu had previously stated that there was no evidence of teacher involvement in the leak, as the question papers were stored in police stations and only delivered to examination centres on the day of the exam.
