Tenzin Metoh, a public health and engineering consultant in Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh, has embarked on a unique path.Alongside her government role, she has become the driving force behind Oro Bruk, a startup that breathes new life into the traditional clothes of her Monpa tribe, reported The Think.Co.

Hailing from the picturesque town of Bomdila, Metohs fascination with bikes began in childhood, and she eventually realized her dream of owning a Bullet 350cc Classic. Her passion for riding persisted despite the setback of her first bike being stolen even before registration.

In 2022, Metohs love for biking reached new heights when she participated in the Explore Beyond exhibition, a collaboration between Arunachal Pradeshs Ministry of Tourism and Ducati.

As part of a four-woman team, she explored the enchanting landscapes of the state on a Ducati Multistrada, immersing herself in indigenous cultures and connecting with fellow women riders.

However, biking is only one aspect of Metohs multifaceted life. She is the driving force behind Oro Bruk, a startup that challenges traditional norms by infusing the Monpa tribes attire with fresh colors and designs.

Metohs innovative approach initially sparked controversy and online trolling, but she remained resolute and continued creating unique garments and accessories.

By incorporating organic dyes and utilizing local suppliers, Metoh supports women weavers in different clusters throughout Tawang, Arunachal Pradesh. Her efforts to make the traditional attire more practical and affordable have garnered support, particularly among the younger generation.

With three years of perseverance, Oro Bruk is now generating profits and gaining acceptance. Metoh aims to expand her venture by introducing digital designs and collaborating with government bodies and artisan groups. She envisions a future where the rich cultural heritage of the Monpa tribe can flourish alongside modern influences.

Metohs entrepreneurial spirit, combined with her dedication to preserving traditions, serves as an inspiration to others seeking to bridge the gap between heritage and innovation.
