Arunachal Pradesh’s final electoral rolls show women voters outnumbering men after the 2026 Special Intensive Revision, with 6.96 lakh registered electors, including 3.52 lakh women. The state recorded a gender ratio of 1,025, above the national average.
Women voters have outnumbered men in Arunachal Pradesh’s final electoral rolls following the completion of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls, according to data released by the Chief Electoral Officer’s office.
The final electoral rolls, published on September 22, 2026, were prepared with July 1, 2026, as the qualifying date. According to Chief Electoral Officer Pawan Kumar Sain, Arunachal Pradesh now has a total of 6,96,026 registered electors. The electorate comprises 3,52,315 women, 3,43,709 men and two third-gender electors. The official schedule had fixed September 22 as the date for publication of the final electoral roll after the SIR process.
The figures mean that women constitute the larger share of the state’s registered electorate, with 8,606 more women voters than men. The gender ratio in the final electoral rolls stands at 1,025 women voters for every 1,000 male voters.
The development follows a similar pattern reported in other northeastern states that have completed their SIR exercises. The final electoral rolls of Manipur and Mizoram were published earlier in September. The electoral data from these states also showed women voters outnumbering men.
Arunachal Pradesh’s final electorate, however, represents a substantial reduction from the number recorded before the draft electoral rolls were published. The state had 8,87,505 electors before the publication of the draft roll on July 21. The final figure of 6,96,026 represents a reduction of 1,91,479 electors compared with the pre-SIR count.
The draft electoral roll published on July 21 had listed 7,18,046 voters, including 3,64,079 women electors. Following the claims and objections process, 8,803 electors were included, while 1,924 names were deleted from the draft electoral roll, according to the CEO’s office.
The Special Intensive Revision was conducted under the instructions of the Election Commission of India. The official schedule shows that the SIR process in Arunachal Pradesh began with preparatory activities in June, followed by house-to-house visits by Booth Level Officers between June 15 and July 14. The draft electoral roll was subsequently published on July 21, while the final roll was scheduled for September 22.
The CEO’s office also published details of electors whose Enumeration Forms were not received during the revision process. The listed probable reasons included 54,678 voters who were absent or untraceable, 78,980 who had shifted, 25,573 cases involving deceased electors, 4,947 duplicate entries and 5,281 cases classified under other reasons.

The publication of the final electoral roll marks the completion of the SIR exercise in Arunachal Pradesh. The Chief Electoral Officer’s official website provides access to the electoral roll and voter-related services, including facilities for checking electoral details and downloading relevant forms.
The latest figures place women voters at the centre of the state’s electoral demographic, with women forming the majority of registered electors in Arunachal Pradesh’s final 2026 electoral rolls.
