The case relating to the mysterious death of Pankaj Sahu, a teacher of Assam Rifles Public School, Agartala will be handed over to the Crime Branch for investigation, said a senior police official. The case is being handed over to the Crime Branch following media reports suggesting it could be a homicide and also in the wake of a group of students demand for fair probe into their teacher’s death.
Sahu a teacher of the Assam Rifles School, was found dead in a mysterious condition inside a room on Independence Day when the school was closed. The door of the room was found broken and the teacher’s legs were found to be tied.
He was found to be hanging in a mysterious condition. When the matter came to light, the deceased’s family along with others alleged that it was not an incident of suicide; it was homicide and he was hanged post murder. The teacher was a resident of Bihari Basti area in Bhati Abhoynagar area.
On Tuesday, a group of students of the school brought out an agitation in front of Agartala city centre demanding a fair probe into the incident.
A student said, Sahu was one of most sincere and generous teachers of the schools and the death was not a suicide.
The agitating students strongly demanded an impartial investigation to unearth the mystery behind the death of their teacher Pankaj Shau.
It has been alleged that the teacher was called over telephone to go to the school despite the school was closed on that day. But, the Principal of the school was still maintaining a conspicuous silence on the issue so far.
Importantly, the agitating group alleged that the teacher was under pressure following distribution of marks since he was head of the examination cell.
