AP records its highest-ever monthly GST collection of Rs 332 crore in April 2025, marking a 66% increase from last year. This milestone reflects growing taxpayer engagement and aligns with the nationwide surge in GST collections, showcasing strong economic growth and tax compliance.

Arunachal Pradesh has achieved a historic milestone by recording its highest-ever monthly Goods and Services Tax (GST) collection in April 2025. The state collected a staggering Rs 332 crore, marking an impressive 66% increase compared to the same month last year. This achievement aligns with the nationwide surge in GST collections, which also reached an all-time high during the same period.

Chief Minister Pema Khandu expressed his satisfaction with this landmark achievement in a post on his X (formerly Twitter) handle. He highlighted the remarkable growth of Arunachal’s taxpayer base since the launch of GST in 2017, which now includes over 20,000 registered taxpayers. “This growth not only reflects the expanding economic activities in the state but also the effectiveness of GST implementation,” he noted.

The all-India GST collection for April 2025 hit a record Rs 2.36 lakh crore, registering a 12.6% increase compared to Rs 2.10 lakh crore collected in April 2024. The net GST collections stood at Rs 2.09 lakh crore, reflecting a 9.1% growth year-on-year. Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman attributed this success to the resilience of the Indian economy and the strength of cooperative federalism, which has enabled states like Arunachal Pradesh to maximize their revenue potential.

Since GST was introduced in July 2017, Arunachal Pradesh has witnessed a manifold increase in its taxpayer base, which has played a critical role in boosting the state’s tax revenues. The rise in GST collections reflects a broader trend of economic expansion and increasing compliance across the region.

In an effort to further promote GST awareness and encourage healthy living, the Central GST Itanagar Commissionerate organized a cyclothon on May 18, themed ‘Sunday on Cycles’. The event was held despite rainy weather and saw enthusiastic participation from the community. The rally began at Bank Tinali in Itanagar and concluded at Indira Gandhi Park, emphasizing both physical fitness and the importance of tax compliance as GST approaches its eighth anniversary.

This record GST collection by Arunachal Pradesh underscores the positive trajectory of the state’s economic development and the growing engagement of taxpayers in formalizing business activities. It sets a promising tone for the continued growth of revenue collections in the coming months and strengthens the fiscal health of the state government.
