In Squash, India’s Anahat Singh, Tanvi Khanna, Abhay Singh and Veer Chotrani advanced to the semi-finals of the Indian Open in Mumbai yesterday. Top seed Anahat registered a convincing 3-0 victory over Malaysia’s Sehveetrraa Kumar, while unseeded Tanvi defeated fourth seed Ainaa Amani of Malaysia, securing a 3-1 victory in the quarter-final matches yesterday. Today’s semifinal will feature an all-Indian showdown between Anahat and Tanvi for a place in the final.
In the men’s quarterfinal matches, second seed Abhay brushed aside Egypt’s Yassin Shohdy 3-1 while fourth seed Veer Chotrani registered a dominant 3-0 victory over seventh seed Mohamed Sharaf of Egypt.
In the last four stages, Singh will take on Malaysia’s Ameeshenraj Chandaran, while Chotrani is set to face another Malaysian challenger, Sanjay Jeeva.
With three athletes moving forward, India remains in a strong position to sweep the podium on home soil as the tournament nears its climax.
