As Cyclone “Remal” began impacting the state from late Sunday evening, the Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) ramped up its efforts to mitigate risks and ensure public safety. Mayor Dipak Majumder assured that AMC is well-prepared to handle the potential impact of the cyclone in all areas under its jurisdiction.
Despite heavy rain and gusty winds on Monday morning, Mayor Majumder personally inspected several pump machines critical for managing water accumulation. During his visit, he engaged with AMC engineers and workers responsible for operating the pumps.
“Agartala Municipal Corporation has a total of 16 state-of-the-art water pump machines specifically designed for draining water accumulated on roads. These machines are crucial for preventing flooding and ensuring smooth traffic flow during heavy rainfall,” Majumder informed reporters.
The mayor confirmed that all machines were functioning optimally, efficiently discharging water from various areas to prevent flooding. He emphasized the importance of these measures in maintaining public safety and minimizing disruption.
Corporator Ratna Dutta, along with other authorities, accompanied the Mayor during his inspection, underscoring the corporation’s commitment to tackling the cyclone’s challenges head-on
