In a an attmept to bolster the overall development of the city, Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) Mayor Dipak Majumder presented a comprehensive budget proposal amounting to Rs. 397 crore for the upcoming fiscal year 2023-24. The budget announcement underscores the administration’s commitment to enhancing essential amenities and facilities for the residents of the municipality areas in the state.
Addressing the budget presentation, Mayor Dipak Majumder highlighted the strategic initiatives that the budget aims to support. The primary focus will be on uplifting the city’s infrastructure and services, with a view to improving the quality of life for its residents.
One notable aspect of the budget proposal is a provision to bridge a financial shortfall of Rs. 55 lakh, which exists between projected income and planned expenditure. This gap is expected to be addressed through diverse tax collection strategies. Moreover, the estimated income for the ongoing financial year has displayed a promising rise compared to the preceding fiscal term.
The budget proposal is slated for official approval by corporators on August 10, marking a crucial step towards its implementation.
A highlight of the budget is a progressive step to grant a 10% property tax exemption to families of freedom fighters who are residing within Agartala city. This gesture comes in commemoration of India’s 75 years of independence and aims to honor the sacrifices made by these individuals in the struggle for the nation’s freedom.
Further underscoring the city’s commitment to paying tribute to the valiant freedom fighters, Mayor Dipak Majumder announced the forthcoming inauguration of the ‘Meri Maati Mera Desh’ campaign. Set to take place on August 14 at Agartala Albert Ekka Park, the campaign will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha. Through a series of carefully planned programs, the campaign will extend tributes and honors to the families of the state’s freedom fighters, recognizing their significant contributions to the nation..
