Ambassa SDM Rinku Reang approves Rs 25,000 SDRF aid for electrocution victim Monti Modak. Swift Tripura administration response ensures urgent medical support after high-voltage accident, highlighting disaster relief efficiency and commitment to vulnerable communities.

A swift administrative response has brought much-needed relief to a family in distress after a tragic electrocution incident in Ambassa, under Tripura’s Dhalai district. Authorities moved quickly to provide financial assistance for the treatment of a critically injured minor, highlighting the importance of timely humanitarian intervention in emergency situations.

The Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) of Ambassa, Ms. Rinku Reang, approved an immediate grant of Rs 25,000 from the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) to support the medical treatment of a 13-year-old girl who suffered severe injuries due to electrocution. The incident occurred on April 15 at approximately 4:30 p.m., when the victim accidentally came into contact with a high-voltage electric wire.

The injured girl, identified as Monti Modak, a resident of Ambassa Bazar, was rushed for urgent medical care following the accident. Given the seriousness of her condition, local authorities prioritized immediate action to ensure that financial constraints did not delay her treatment.

According to official sources, the financial assistance has been sanctioned in favor of her father, Shyamojit Modak, to help cover the initial medical expenses. The approval was granted after reviewing reports submitted by the Disaster Control Management (DCM) authorities and the Ambassa Municipal Council, both of which confirmed the severity of the incident and the urgent need for support.

The sanctioned amount will be drawn from SDRF allocations under the Disaster Management head for the financial year 2024–25. Officials from the district administration have already issued necessary instructions to the accounts and treasury departments to expedite the disbursement process, ensuring that the funds reach the family without unnecessary delay.

This prompt response by the administration reflects a broader commitment to humanitarian governance and disaster responsiveness in Tripura. By acting swiftly, the local administration has demonstrated its focus on protecting vulnerable communities and addressing emergencies with urgency and compassion.

Incidents involving high-voltage electricity remain a serious safety concern, particularly in densely populated or poorly maintained areas. Authorities continue to urge residents to exercise caution and report exposed or damaged electrical infrastructure to prevent such accidents in the future.

The case also underscores the critical role of disaster relief funds such as the SDRF in providing immediate assistance during unforeseen emergencies. Timely intervention not only supports affected families financially but also reinforces public confidence in governance systems designed to respond during crises.
