All Political Parties Support Operation Sindoor In All Party-Meet

On Thursday, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh chaired an all-party meeting in New Delhi, a day after India conducted cross-border airstrikes targeting terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). These strikes, codenamed Operation Sindoor, marked one of the Indian Army’s most expansive operations against terror infrastructure across the border. The meeting was convened to brief opposition leaders on the details of the operation, its aftermath, and the government’s stance regarding national security and preparedness for any possible escalation.

The cross-border strikes came in the wake of heightened tensions between India and Pakistan following the recent Pahalgam attack. The militant outfit The Resistance Front (TRF), believed to be backed by Pakistan-based elements, claimed responsibility for the assault. In response, Indian forces launched precision strikes aimed at dismantling terror camps allegedly used for infiltration and training militants.

Government’s Approach and Opposition’s Support

The all-party meeting was a significant political exercise, aimed at fostering unity among political factions in the face of cross-border terrorism. Top leaders from various political parties attended the meeting, including Rahul Gandhi, Congress MP and Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha; Mallikarjun Kharge, Congress President; and Asaduddin Owaisi, AIMIM chief. The presence of these senior leaders underscored the importance of the briefing and the need for a unified stance on national security.

During the meeting, Rajnath Singh presented a detailed account of Operation Sindoor, including the intelligence gathered, strategic objectives, and the outcomes achieved through the military action. He also highlighted the government’s preparedness to tackle any potential retaliation and reiterated India’s commitment to safeguarding its sovereignty.

Unified Political Response

The atmosphere at the meeting was notably cohesive, as leaders from across the political spectrum expressed solidarity with the government’s actions. According to Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju, the Opposition acknowledged the valor and strategic acumen of the Armed Forces. He emphasized that the leaders showed a mature and responsible approach, agreeing that national security should be above partisan politics. “All parties spoke in one voice against terror and complimented the armed forces,” said Rijiju, adding that the support extended by the Opposition was unanimous.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, speaking to the media post-meeting, affirmed the party’s unwavering support for the government. “We have extended our full support to the government,” he stated, signaling a rare moment of political unity. Similarly, Mallikarjun Kharge remarked that the Congress had reiterated its backing for the government during the briefing.

Strategic and Diplomatic Considerations

AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi went a step further, advocating for diplomatic measures alongside military actions. Congratulating the Armed Forces and the government, he called for an international campaign to designate the The Resistance Front (TRF) as a terrorist organization. Owaisi stressed the importance of engaging global powers, particularly the United States, to push for the group’s designation as a terrorist entity by the United Nations Security Council (UNSC).

His proposal highlighted the dual approach of combining military operations with strategic diplomatic initiatives to tackle terrorism emanating from foreign soil. Owaisi’s statement also underscored the need for India to proactively shape the global narrative against cross-border terrorism, especially given the growing international scrutiny of terror groups operating from Pakistan.

Conclusion

The all-party meeting marked a significant political consensus on counterterrorism strategies and highlighted the government’s effort to keep the Opposition informed and engaged. As Operation Sindoor unfolds, the unity displayed by political leaders could serve as a strong message to adversaries about India’s resolve and collective stance against terrorism.
