All arrangements are in place for the grand finale of the 7th edition of the Smart Innovation Hackathon (SIH) at two institutions in Telangana. Software editions of the SIH finale will be held at the IIT-Hyderabad, which is hosting the national event for the first time, and Vardhaman College of Engineering in Hyderabad, hosting the event for the third consecutive time.

These events are part of the national event, to be held at 51 centres simultaneously across the country tomorrow and the day after. A total 57 teams and over 380 participants will be competing on 10 problem statements in these two events, while about 2600 teams have been nominated from various Higher Education institutions to take part in the SIH across the country.

The ingenious minds shortlisted for the grand finale of Smart Innovation Hackathon (SIH) are ready to compete and tackle real-world challenges through their innovation and creativity at the IIT Hyderabad and Vardhaman College of Engineering in Hyderabad. About 4,00 enthusiasts will work on problems relating to Agriculture, Crop disease management, Marketing, Ocean Data and many more during the 36-hour-long hackathon. Talking to Akashvani News, on hosting the SIH event for the first time, IIT-H Director Prof B S Murthy observed that it is a transformative initiative by the Government of India that bridges the aspirations of India’s youth with the nation’s vision for Viksit Bharat 2047. He also said the SIH is a dynamic platform that fosters innovation, entrepreneurship, and creative problem-solving-critical drivers for shaping the future of education and industry.

While the problem statements at the IIT Hyderabad focus on Agriculture and other related sectors, the teams competing at the Vardhaman College of Engineering will tackle the challenges relating to Earth Sciences and Ocean data beside other allied subjects during the challenge.

Vardhaman College of Engineering Principal Dr JVR Ravindra informed Akashvani News that the participants came from different parts of the country and are enthusiastically waiting for the event to take off. He said some of the earlier participants at the institute have registered their patents and also started their startups.

These students and young scientists from different parts of the country are coming together to address some of the real-world challenges as it lies at the core of mission SIH for solving critical issues. Both participants and organisers are confident that these efforts will have a ripple effect, benefiting local communities while positioning India as a global leader in innovation.

National Academy of Agriculture and Research Management Director Ch Srinivas Rao will inaugurate the event at the IIT-H campus tomorrow while Vice Chancellor of Hyderabad University Prof BJ Rao will do it at Vardhaman College of Engineering.
