In its ongoing initiative to raise awareness and promote public health education, Akashvani Agartala has launched a series of seminars across various colleges at Agartala. Under this initiative, a seminar on “Understanding HIV – Awareness and Prevention” was held today at Bir Bikram Memorial College (BBMC), Agartala.

The seminar witnessed enthusiastic participation from faculty members, students, and prominent guests, including the Principal-in-Charge of BBMC, Mrinal Dasgupta, and Teachers’ Council Secretary, Dr. Abhijit Bhattacharya.

Subhrajit Bhattacharjee, Joint Director of the Tripura AIDS Control Society, delivered a compelling keynote address. Highlighting the alarming threat posed by HIV/AIDS, Bhattacharjee urged students to stay vigilant against behaviors that increase vulnerability to the disease. He pointed out that drug use, particularly sharing needles, remains a major cause of HIV transmission. He also emphasized the importance of faculty members monitoring students and providing support to prevent such risky behaviors.

From Akashvani Suman Bhattacharjee also spoke on the occasion.

In an engaging interaction, faculty members discussed various challenges, including the increasing student-teacher ratio, with Bhattacharjee. The seminar also featured a deeply moving testimony from a young person undergoing rehabilitation after recovering from drug addiction. He shared his personal struggles and the harsh realities he faced during his addiction, leaving a lasting impression on the audience.

Jayasri Debbarma, Head of Programme of Akashvani Agartala, graced the occasion, lending her support to the initiative. To further engage the participants, a general quiz was organized by Akashvani Agartala, which added an interactive and informative dimension to the event.

Series seminar of Akashvani Agartala aims to educate and empower the youth on critical issues affecting society while fostering a sense of responsibility and awareness. The next seminar in the series is expected to continue building on this impactful start, ensuring greater outreach and engagement.
